There are several things you can do to keep your stress levels low during the house moving process. Here are two such things.
Take steps to make the unpacking process easier
Sorting through and packing up all of your possessions, and then transporting them to another house, is an exhausting process. By the time you arrive at your new property, you will probably feel extremely frazzled and worn-out. The last thing you will want to do is unpack dozens of boxes. Unfortunately, this is not a task that can be postponed. However, there are steps you can take when packing up your belongings that will make this final part of the moving process less stressful and overwhelming.
For example, instead of taking all of the clothing out of your chest of drawers and putting them into cardboard boxes, you might want to simply leave them where they are and transport them to your new home inside this piece of furniture. This will not only speed up the packing process but will also mean that there will be less unpacking to do when you arrive at your new house. If you decide to do this, make sure to seal the drawers shut with masking tape so that they do not slide open when they are inside the back of the moving van.
Likewise, when packing up things like dresses, shirts and jackets, you might want to leave them on their hangers, so that when you then need to place them in the wardrobe in your new home, you won't have to waste time inserting hangers into them; instead, you can simply transfer them directly from their boxes to the clothing rail inside the wardrobe.
Let the removalists do their job
When the removalists start to load your belongings into the moving van, you might feel tempted to help out, in order to speed things up. However, this is not advisable, as your lack of expertise and equipment is likely to result in you making a mistake that will send your stress levels soaring.
For example, if you try to carry a heavy piece of furniture out of the house and into to the van without any help, you may end up dropping it. This could lead to you then having to spend time and money arranging for the repair or replacement of this item. Trying to lift a heavy item could also result in you straining your back if you are not strong enough to lift it. This could be particularly problematic, as you may end up in so much pain that you cannot unpack your belongings after they are delivered to your new home.
As such, it is best to simply allow the trained, experienced removalists to handle the moving process on your behalf.
