Three Moving House Hacks For The Inexperienced Mover

Moving house can be a very stressful exercise, but the more often you do it, the better you get at transferring your belongings from your old home to your new one without too much fuss. However, for the inexperienced mover who wants to know all the simple hacks to make moving house a simple task, here are three little tips that you can do before the furniture removalist arrives to load your things into their truck.

Photograph Electronic Connections

Do you have a five-piece stereo that needs to be dismantled so each component can be placed inside its own moving box? Or, perhaps you have a TV which is wired to a soundbar which is wired to a movie player which is attached to an internet router. Taking these components apart is not difficult, but putting them back together correctly could test your memory powers. Moving hack #1: use your cell phone to take photos of the connection points before you take the components apart so that putting them back together again will be a breeze.

Hire Moving Supplies

When it is time to pack up your belongings, you will be amazed at just how many cardboard boxes you need. However, the cost of purchasing these can quickly add up, and then there is the dilemma of what to do with them after you have unpacked. A large pile of cardboard in your garage is an attraction for rodents. So, moving hack #2 is to talk to your furniture removalist to see if they rent out moving boxes. The cost of renting is less than the cost of purchasing them, and you then have the added advantage of the boxes being removed from your home after you are done with them.

Use Rubbish Bags For Clothes

While the current Marie Kondo trend is to get rid of all clothing which does not bring you joy, sometimes there are clothes you just do not want to part with. Moving hack #3 involves purchasing rubbish bags, but not to throw your clothes out. One easy way to transport clothes on hangers is to cut a hole in the sealed edge of the rubbish bag. The hole should be just big enough to fit the top of clothes hangers through. Next, gather together half-a-dozen hangers in one hand and then slip the rubbish bag over the top. Your clothes will now remain clean and protected as they are transported.

These are just three examples of ways you can make moving day easier on yourself, and if you ask your furniture removalist, they will share plenty more tips just like this.
